Where is Uluwatu?
Uluwatu is located on the West Southern cliffs of Bali. A rugged and dryer part of Bali, discovered by surfers in the late 1960's. Made famous in the early 1970's, where surfers would have locals help them make rope ladders to access the amazing beaches
Nowadays you can find local warungs built into the cliffs, with man made steps (lots of them) where you can hang out to catch the amazing sunsets.
If you time it right you can access the beaches by lots of steps and through caves (but make sure you time it right, speak to a local or a surfer before making the trek down or the tide may trap you there)

How to get to Uluwatu?
Uluwatu is located in a more remote part of the Southern part of the Island, getting there by taxi or private driver is easy, finding a taxi or private driver to get around the spread out village or getting to another location can prove more challenging.
Hotels are generally not walking distance to restaurants, and if you are near one cliff beach, you need transport to get to another.
Uluwatu is only 50 minutes from the airport, however if you plan to go from Uluwatu to the airport anytime around sunset, allow at least 2.5 hours to get there.
If you plan to visit the Temple for Sunset and not staying in the area, allow at least 2 hours to get off the Bukit after sunset. Best to stay in the area and have your driver take you to a restaurant for dinner before leaving the area.
